You may have noticed I've been away from my blog lately. That's because I've been spending a lot of time in hospitals lately. Visiting & taking care of my mom. First in Texas, now here closer to home. Mom has been in the hospital since Christmas Eve. She developed pneumonia while in Texas...that, combined with her COPD, put my mother in a very fragile state. She had to be put on a ventilator & feeding tube for a few days {if you've never had a loved one go through this, pray that you don't, because it's horrendous}; after 12 days in ICU, and no longer on the ventilator, my mom was brought back home via air ambulance. She's out of ICU now, the pnuemonia nearly gone, but she remains in the hospital because Mom needs to build up her strength so she can stand and walk on her own. And then, there's the devastating diagnosis we received a week ago: my mother has lung cancer. We're scared, we're worried. Mom has been struggling to get well again...and now the cancer & treatment to follow just might knock her off her feet again. Until we get the results from the PET scan, we won't know exactly what kind of battle my mother will have. But battle she will. With her family by her side. My mom is strong ~ perhaps not physically ~ but strong nonetheless. She can beat this cancer.
