Every year, in early October, the carnival comes to town. Well, not the carnival but a carnival. The square is closed off, booths & rides set up, and our town's Fall Festival begins.
Now, mind you, this festival is ridiculously small and outrageously priced, but it's all we've got. Our festival, our town. So that makes it somethin' special.
The girls look forward to going to this festival every year. October 1st comes around and they start looking for the fall festivities to begin. For some good ol' fashioned fun right here at home.
Brynn & Reilly love to go the first night...that's when everyone seems to go. They rush to meet up with their friends and desert Mom&Dad. And off they go, not just for the thrill of the rides, but also for the thrill they get being able to run around the streets after dark!
When they get hungry or cold, they come back to us. Looking for a hand-out...for some money, so they can buy blue cotton candy or a warm drink. And then it's off to enjoy that favorite ride a few more times before their pesky parents say "it's time to go, it's a school night, you know...".
But, sadly, this year it wasn't meant to be. The Fall Festival is only open for three days...a busy schedule and some very lousy weather prevented us from having our usual fun. The lights are turned off, the rides packed up, the festival is over. But, maybe next year. Yes, there is always next year when the carnival comes to town.*all photos taken by my dh who braved the bitter cold:)
